We have been working hard around our house to spread Christmas cheer! With selling a house, buying a house, planning an upcoming move, it honestly would be easy to let Christmas fall through the cracks a little, but these sweet kiddos are SO excited this year that we just have to put all the other stuff on the back burner for a little while longer!
We spent an entire afternoon one day making Christmas art to decorate with. Cole, Jordan, and Hayes all love crafts, and the messier the better!
Another day we worked on a gingerbread house. They hung in with me for a while before deciding I should finish it and make it look like the picture on the box… no pressure! They were pretty happy with the result at least!
We have worked on several different crafts along the way as well. Our sweet Mimi sent me the idea for this one, and, as much milk as we go through in this house, I knew we had to do it! The kids loved it!
And the kids were so excited to get right to work on the crafts that their piano teacher, Mrs. Sandi, sent them home with today!
We also worked hard on some of the more traditional decorations. Daddy tried to let Cole and Jordan put the star on together, but we ended up compromising so Jordan put the star on and Cole lit it!
The kids loved putting all the ornaments on the tree. They didn’t stop or lose interest the entire time. They kept asking about the stories behind each ornament, and it was really fun for Murray and me to tell them which ones were our special ornaments growing up and show them theirs from each year of their life so far.
After decorating the tree, we snuggled up to watch Rudolph!
It’s really important to us that always, but especially this time of year, we help the kids to see how much God has blessed them and to give them opportunities to bless others. We had a chance to do that by going to a community center in a nearby underprivileged neighborhood and decorating cookies with the kids. As always, I was taught more by my kids than I feel like I taught them. I loved watching the way they played and interacted with kids they had never met. They never missed a beat. And of course they made some pretty amazing cookies… Haha.
The kids also got to go to a “Night at the North Pole” at Aunt Kelsey, Uncle Smith, and Annie’s church with Nonny and Poppy. We ended up with some really cute pictures with Santa thanks to Nonny’s creativity. Hayes isn’t totally into Santa this year so look closely to see if you can spot Nonny.

And two sweet things that I feel like really show what Christmas is all about… Cole’s sweet letter to Santa where he took care of his little sister, and my sweet husband who took over the most dreaded Christmas job- licking the Christmas card envelopes.
