Snow Fun!

This post is out of order, but it will take a while for me to get all our Christmas festivities documented so I decided to share this quick one first.  When Cole got up yesterday (Christmas) morning, he came into our room and said “I looked out my window, and I think I saw a little bit of snow!”  I expected…  Santa came! or I think we have presents!  I guess Cole just thought that it had to snow for it to really be Christmas.  I tried to explain to him that it didn’t always (or hardly ever in Memphis) snow on Christmas.  He quickly told me that Santa would make it snow.  Oh great… Well, this morning we woke up to find that Santa had delivered one last magical Christmas present last night!  Both the kids were so excited, and, even though this snow seemed puny compared to our experiences with Chicago snows, we made the most of it!

Cole and Jordan waited patiently watching it snow through the front door while I figured out some warm snow outfits!

Once we were all bundled up, we headed outside to play!

Cole promptly made a snow angel, and Jordan had to be like Cole… she gave it her best effort.  Haha.

Then Cole taught Jordan how to make snowballs…  They were so funny.  Every time they would throw one, they would say “Pop!”  They both thought it was so funny to “pop” Mommy!  I guess it really was for the best though.  I think it will be a few more years before they can tolerate enjoy a snowball fight with each other!

And we even made an awesome snowman!

Even if he was tiny!  Haha.

As always, my BOY enjoyed smashing the snowman more than making him!

We had a great time playing outside and then headed in to heat up by eating our yummy, warm oatmeal!  Thank you Santa for such a special treat!  Winking smile

Deckin’ the Halls!

We had so much fun decorating this year.  The kids were so excited about everything we pulled out of the boxes, and they were even really into seeing what each ornament was.  It was neat to be able to show Cole his ornaments so far and to show him some from when Murray and I were little.  Cole liked finding the perfect spot on the tree from them, and Jordan had fun taking them off…

Cole got to put the star on top and then Jordan had to have a turn too.

One of the best parts has been watching how into the nativity scene they are.  They both really love playing with it, and Cole will make you lay on your belly in front of it so he can show you the whole story.  I love it.

No surprise, but they have really enjoyed reading all our Christmas books too.

The night we decorated everything, we ate Christmas cookies and watched the Elf on the Shelf movie.

And then guess who showed up?  Our elf!!!  Cole named him Jake, and he has been showing up in different places every morning.  Cole and Jordan both get really excited when they find him.

Jordan really enjoyed her hot chocolate!

The other thing that Cole and Jordan look forward to in the mornings is opening the 12 days of Christmas gift.  Mimi (Murray’s mom) gave them 12 presents to open up each morning leading up to Christmas so everyday they get a new book.  Most have been Christmas books which they love, but some have just been other fun books.  Every time Cole wakes up (from naptime or bedtime), he asks me “Is it a new day now?”

When we were younger we had a Rudolph that sang the song and walked around.  We have one now (it doesn’t walk around though), and it is Jordan’s very favorite thing.  She even shared her bottle with it.

I have really enjoyed dressing them cute this year too.  Jordan literally has had a different outfit for like every day of December thanks to her adoring grandmas, and we have made the most of them!

Excited about singing Rudolph again…

My sweet, funny boy!  Love him!

Murray and I got to got to a Tacky Christmas Party with others from our class at church.  Here is a picture of us… Murray of course had to make the picture even tackier than it already would have been!

If pre-Christmas is this fun, I can’t wait for Christmas morning!!!

Christmas Cookie Extravaganza

We were invited to a Cookie Brunch yesterday, and Cole and Jordan thought it was so fun.  They loved playing with all their friends, eating yummy food, and then getting to decorate gingerbread men.  The best part was eating their creations!

Playing and watching The Elf of the Shelf…

Cole had fun decorating his and Jordan’s cookie bags even though they had eaten all their cookies and didn’t have any to put in their bags.  Haha.

Cole was our professional photographer.  We just hired him too late so we didn’t get Karli or Jessica in the picture.

Cole did better on his picture than we did on ours.  Not a very great group shot, but hey… we tried!

Thanks Heather, Savannah, and Caleb for hosting such a fun and yummy party!
