Week 2 with 3

IMG_0509

We are finally on our own as a family of 5.  Mom stayed the nights with us through Wednesday, but I had the 3 kids during the days and the last 2 nights on my own/with Murray.  So far so good!  We managed getting Cole to day school, a grocery trip, a doctor’s visit, a couple meals out, and we even made it to Breakfast with Santa this morning (that post still to come…).  Life has slowed down drastically, but that’s not all bad.  It definitely makes more time for sweet snuggles!

The kids have seen me doing a lot of this lately and asked to hold Hayes on their bellies too…

Look at this little bit!  You can barely even see him on the pillow!  I know Cole and Jordan were this tiny too, but it is so hard to remember!

Love all the funny facial expressions at this age.  Happy, sad, mad, flirty in about 5 seconds!

Another sweet big sister moment… just randomly came over to give him eskimo kisses or as my kids call it “noses.”

Now these moments were staged, but still super sweet!!!

We have also tried to do some fun at home activities.  We have played play-do, pretended a ton, and here was a craft project.  The first picture were foot turkeys… Cole’s became a little more abstract, but he had fun.  The second picture was their free paint… Cole made a reindeer, and this was Jordan’s time to be abstract.

I won’t lie… this is a whole new level of busy!  The kids are all doing well I think overall, but we have had moments where I can tell the big 2 are stir crazy and extra hyper or where Hayes has been crying and ready to eat while I am cleaning up a mess because Jordan made it to the bathroom but unfortunately not onto the potty in time or I basically feel like a walking pee/spit-up/snot rag.  Haha.  That being said, I am glad to be trying to figure out our new normal and am honestly loving the crazy… most of the time.  Winking smile

Hayes’ Newborn Photos

My sister surprised me with the sweet gift of lining up a newborn photo shoot for Hayes.  Here are some of my favorites!

My Hilarious Princess

This girl keeps me on my toes, laughing, and entertained about all the time!  She is into things like Cole never was, and she seems to love making a mess.  She is also as girly as they come.  Those two things added together led to this situation…

We busted her playing with my make-up.  She had concealer and mascara all over her face.  She actually did get some on her eyelashes.  She was surprised when we found her, proud to show us how “beautiful” she was, and ready to put on deodorant!  When I showed her what she looked like in the mirror, she said “Oh no Mommy!  It’s ruined!”  Haha.  Made it a little easier to talk her into letting me take it off.

Here are some videos of her singing along to our Veggie Tales CD in the car.  She is almost always a half second behind, but I LOVE to hear her singing.  Always makes me laugh.  She knows all the songs and is so cute singing them.  Watch Cole in the “I love my Lips” song.  He on the other hand has it down pat and doesn’t miss a beat!

Here are some cute pictures of her with her new fish.  She is such a ham… when she chooses to be!

The other day, I caught her sniffing her Strawberry Shortcake doll.  In her defense, the doll is strawberry scented, but something about my 2 year old just sitting and smelling that doll was strange.  Winking smile

And she is getting to the age where she loves her little friends.  This is her friend Emery, and Jordan loves her.  They looked so cute in their reindeer clothes after Breakfast with Santa!  I love hearing 2 year old conversations!

Also she says the funniest things lately.  She is all into pretending and is a different animal all the time.  The other night she was a “headpecker” who kept pecking my mom’s leg from the bottom bunk as Mom was talking to Cole in the top bunk, and this morning she woke up as a cat named '”Titty.”  Disclaimer- she pronounces the letter “k/c” sound as a “t” sound.

I love this little girl and all the trouble and fun she brings to our family!

My Little Comedians

Cole and Jordan are always funny, but adding Hayes into the mix has made for some hilarious comments.  Some of these are more sweet than funny, but hopefully some will give you a couple good laughs too.

- Cole was being loud the other day so I explained that Hayes has new, baby ears so he doesn’t like such loud noises.  A minute later, Jordan was loud.  I heard Cole tell her “Sssshhh Jordan!  Baby Hayes has a new head!”  He was close… and they are both still loud.  Winking smile

- Hayes was fussing the other day.  Cole looked at me and said “I have no idea what he’s saying!”

- Jordan was holding Hayes and looking at his sweet face.  All of a sudden she said excitedly “Oh! Momma, he got eyebrows!”

- Both are so sweet with Hayes.  Cole always tells me all the things he loves about him.  “Momma, I love his little nose, and I love his little legs.  And his dark hair that’s just like Daddy’s!”

- Jordan will randomly go over to Hayes, pet him like a dog and say “Good boy!”

- Her other favorite phrase has been “He’s so cute!”  Only she pronounces it “He’s so tute!”

- Cole asks to hold Hayes a lot.  I pretty much always let him when he wants to, but the other day he seemed shocked I said yes.  He asked, I said ok, he said “Jordan, I get to hold Baby Hayes! Can you believe it?!?!”

- Jordan loves to tell everyone “This is my Baby Brudder.  His name is Baby Hayes!”

- As you can imagine, nursing has brought up some interesting questions and conversations.  The other day I had been nursing Hayes and was trying to decide whether he was truly finished or not.  Cole walks up and says “Ummm, Mom?  You can put that thing up now.”

- Cole had gotten in the habit of biting his fingernails.  We talked and talked about why that wasn’t good.  He was holding Hayes the other day and playing with his hand.  He noticed one of Hayes’ fingernails was just hanging by one edge and said “Oh no… I think Hayes has been biting his fingernails.”

-  Jordan cracks me up with what she says to Hayes and how she says it.  Several times she has called him a “cute wittle fewwa” and the other day, when he was fussing some in his swing, she went over and said “It’s ok little brudder.  I’m here wittle buddy.”

- Cole asked the other day “Mom, why is your belly still a little bit big if Baby Hayes already came out?”

I’m sure that there have been more, but these are a few that I took time to stick in my phone.  Being a mom to 3 is definitely busy, but I am loving these busy days with my precious kiddos!

Park Fun with the Big Kids

Murray had a crazy busy work week last week.  Like probably his busiest week since we moved to Memphis.  Great timing- right?  Haha.  Actually he was presented with a really awesome opportunity, and I am so proud of him for his hard work, brains, and desire to use the talents God has given him.  The timing is just one more reason I wish Hayes hadn’t waited so long to come on out though.  Winking smile  Thankfully my mom has stayed the week with us so I have had some extra help.  Anyway, we really didn’t see Murray Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday so by Thursday, we were all SO glad that he was done with the busyness!  To celebrate, my mom kept Hayes while Murray and I took the older 2 to a park near our house.  To make it even better, Cole rode his bike there, and Jordan rode in her pink car.  They loved it, and we had a great time playing.

Checking out some geese with Daddy…

And Daddy is the champ at being silly and getting awesome belly laughs out of these two!  Makes my heart so happy listening.

Grateful for a sweet baby boy, happy kiddos, being married to the best husband/daddy ever, and the blessing of this life that God has given me!
