Christmas at the Cabin

Christmas started a little early for our crew since we celebrated the weekend before with my family at the lake.  With 6 little ones, we had a FUN time!  SO much excitement and playing.  Kelsey and Smith gave my parents a sign last year for Christmas that said something like- "The Lake... where cousins become best friends."  Even the littlest ones!
Christmas Eve we have a family tradition of opening one present.  It all started when Kelsey, Logan, and I were little and would ask my papaw for "just one present" and make sure to add the "pretty please with sugar on top" along with a hug and kiss.  Now the tradition continues with our kids laying it on thick with their Poppy.  They were a little excited that it worked!
The kids were really cute Christmas morning wanting to pass out everyone's presents.  It took a little while, but they were pretty proud of themselves!  In there defense, there were a lot of presents!
Waiting on presents...

Digging in!

All that present opening will just poop you right out!  Haha.  Sorry guys... had to!

As fun as opening presents and watching everyone else enjoy what they received is, I think the best part of Christmas at the cabin is that it allows for so much time to just be together.  There's nowhere to rush off to.  I love just seeing my kids snuggle up with my family, watching everyone talk and laugh together, and know that special memories are being made.

Cole took it upon himself to keep the fire going all weekend.  We all enjoyed it, but I think he enjoyed working with Murray on it the most.  I love seeing how much he LOVES his daddy.  And how wonderful his Daddy is to take the time to teach him things... even with an impending kidney stone!  But that's another story.
So thankful for the time and memories with my family that the cabin has always given me.  Even more so now that we are sharing it with our kids.  Mostly thankful for such a wonderful family that we want to spend time and make memories with!  It's the best Christmas present of all!
