My Baby Boy is 2!!!

P1170385

How did this happen?!?!  It pretty much blows my mind to have a 2 year old.  Not just because he is 2, but also because he acts so stinking grown up!  I promise he acts bigger and bigger every day.  He is able to communicate SO well now.  There is very little that he isn’t able to tell us, and he definitely tells us what he wants or doesn’t want!  2 has brought a “little bit” of bossiness with it.  Haha.  He just is so smart and knows how things should be.  Winking smile  He really is very particular about things though.  Toys have their right spot, games are played a certain way, only songs he wants to sing should be sung, people have specific places they should sit, etc…  Sometimes I just want to say “Who exactly is the boss around here?”  I don’t though because I’m afraid of the answer.  Haha.

For all his bossiness, his sweetness far outweighs it!  He is SUCH  a sweet boy.  I love his hugs, kisses, and cuddle times.  He is typically a very busy boy these days, but he will randomly come up to hug or kiss you.  My favorite is when out of the blue he says “pretty mom” or “Wuv wu (Love you) mom.”  I don’t think my  heart could swell any bigger!  He is also very concerned if ever he thinks anyone is hurt, sad, or sick.  He will ask over and over “Otay (ok)?” and want to kiss what hurts.  He also is very quick to say sorry if he is the cause.  He loves on his baby sister too.  He always worries if she is crying, wants to sing to her, helps get her paci or a new diaper, etc.  His new favorite song to sing to her when she is crying is “Baby Jordan, Baby Jordan, we love you, we love you, we love you very much, we love you very much, yes it’s true, yes it’s true.”  (Goes to the tune of Where is Thumpkin.)  He has a big heart!

He also loves playing with his buddies.  I love asking him about his friends or who was in bible class.  He just rattles off the names.  It’s also great to tell him that we are going somewhere like the zoo or pool with some of his friends.  He gets so excited.  His key phrases are “It’s gonna be fu-un.” or “It’ll be gre-at!”  He really drags out that last word and has the biggest smile.  Then when we get to wherever we were going, he yells “RIGHT THERE!”  Haha.  Makes me even happier to take him to do fun things when he obviously loves it so much.

I don’t know if you caught it in the previous paragraph, but my name is now mom.  Murray is dad.  I don’t know why this happened so soon, but he definitely doesn’t call us mommy or daddy anymore.  We don’t refer to each other as mom or dad.  He doesn’t have a big brother or sister calling us mom or dad.  I don’t know why it has changed, but the only time we are ever mommy or daddy now is if he is crying.  Otherwise it’s just mom and dad.  Even if we ask him to say “Great job daddy,”  he will say “Great job Dad.”  He will repeat a long sentence exactly like we ask except change the mommy or daddy to mom or dad.  It’s really pretty funny to hear such a little guy say “Hey dad!”

He also has a very mischievous spirit.  He is curious about everything and will quickly ask “What this is?” if he doesn’t recognize something.  And you can almost see the wheels turning as he tries to figure out the best way to get his way!  He will tell us to wait just a second or that he is going to do something else first instead of what we want him to do.  As he is starting to do something he knows he probably shouldn’t, he will look back at you and give you the slyest little smile that makes you just want to laugh so hard.  What a little booger!

Naptime and bedtime are hit or miss.  Sometimes he goes to bed great.  Others you can tell he thinks he will miss something!  These are the times he will refuse to put on his pajamas because he knows what that means!  Haha.  He definitely keeps us on our toes!  He really doesn’t want to miss a thing.  The funniest thing to me is when he walks up to people and says “Hey guys.  Whatcha doin?”

He understands multiple step commands.  Sometimes I start telling him something or explaining something, and I think- this is way over his head- but then he will go and do exactly what I asked him to do.  Other times he will completely restate what I have told him not to do and why.  It’s nice to be able to reason with him- most of the time… he is still 2!  He can pretty much count to 20.  We still get a little mixed up in the teens from time to time, but he does pretty well.  He can spell his name.  He knows almost all the colors: red, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple, pink, white, black.  Brown is still a tough one for us.  Here he shows off his color and music skills.  You can tell when he starts getting a little bored with mommy’s game.

Physically there isn’t much he can’t do either.  He loves to be outside so he can run and play.  He loves to play baseball and basketball, throw rocks, and saying he likes to jump is a MAJOR understatement.  You really have to watch him because he wants to jump off everything.  For example, I caught him about to jump off our kitchen table this morning when I had walked to throw something away in the bathroom and come back.  Agh!  He is a little fishy and would stay in the water all day long.  He is now tall enough that he has figured out how to open all the doors.  I knew this day was coming, but I wish it hadn’t!  It was pretty funny this morning though when he just woke up, got out of bed, and came out of his room all smiles because he was so proud of himself for doing it on his own.  Not so funny when he came out of his room at bedtime the other night though.  Smile  He also loves to dance!  Not sure where he gets his awesome rhythm or dance moves, but it’s so fun to watch!

He has an amazing imagination.  I still give full credit for this to Murray.  Cole will pick up his animals and have then talking to each other and playing together.  He takes his tractor around the rug in his room and feeds hay to all the animals on it.  He is constantly changing into a lion, rhino, turtle, frog, etc.  He will find “tents” and “tunnels” all over the place.  He is truly an imaginative little guy!

He makes crazy connections too.  For example, we were looking at some Sesame Street stickers Mimi and PopPop sent him in the mail, and he was naming all the characters.  He said ”there’s Slimy.”  He stared at the sheet for a minute and said “Where Oscar is?”  He knew Slimy went with Oscar.  Also he were looking at his tractor book, and we were naming the colors of the tractors.  He said “Tractor’s funnel black. Like mole. Dig in the dirt, dig in the dirt.”  Totally was not a mole in that book.  He just knew from another book that moles were black, and they dig in the dirt.  I know I’m his mom, but it’s just incredible for me to see these things clicking for him.

All in all he is a precious blessing!  I cannot imagine life without him, and I am so thankful for the gift these past 2 years have been.  He has taught us so much about patience, love, sacrifice, commitment, and on and on.  He is a source of joy and entertainment daily!  We love him SO much and look forward to making many more memories with him in the years to come!

2 Months Old!

P1170258

Our sweet girl was 2 months old on the 7th.  She is just getting so big!  I mean look at all those rolls in her arm- haha!  Seriously though, this has been a fun month with her.  She is such a happy baby, and she smiles all the time.  I love talking to her and watching those little eyes light up and that big smile spread across her face.  She truly smiles with her whole body… she just wiggles all over she is so happy!

She still loves her swing which is so great.  She is also doing much better with her carseat now.  She still doesn’t love it when she is initially strapped in, but she calms down much more quickly now.  We took 2 road trips this past month, and she was wonderful!  Such a little angel!

She is also starting to talk a lot more.  She will work so hard to get those sweet little noises out, and I love it when she squeals!  Sometimes it even startles her that she could make such a big noise.

She is getting stronger and stronger.  She does great with tummy time and turns her head back and forth looking all around.  She especially loves it if her big brother is down on the floor talking to her.  He always gets the biggest smiles.  She also has started to enjoy being held with her back against us so she can look out at everything around her.  She is an observant little girl already!

P1170220

The other day was the first time that I think she really tried to roll over.  We had laid her in the middle of our bed as we were getting ready.  Murray was talking to me from his side of the bed, and she completely turned to look over at him.  She ended up in a side-lying position.  Didn’t make it all the way over onto her belly, but she accomplished what she was trying to do because she was staring right at her daddy and smiling.  So sweet!

She is a great sleeper.  She usually naps in her swing, but at night she will sleep in her bed very well.  Usually I get anywhere from a 6-8 hour stretch.  Just getting up once during the night is such a treat!  I don’t think I was only up once with Cole until he was 6 months or older!  Still one of my favorite things is when I let her nap on me.  Nothing better than cuddling with my sweet baby.  Seeing Cole become such a big boy, I realize just how quickly Jordan will be that big too so I’m trying to soak up all my baby time with her while I can.

I am taking Jordan and Cole to the doctor on Wednesday for their 2 month and 2 year old well baby checkups so I will post her weight and length then.  Keep checking because Cole’s big 2 year old post and birthday party post are coming soon!  And don’t miss our fun 4th of July post below!

Just hang on…

Because this possibly is going to be the longest post ever!  We have done so much in the last few weeks that I have had so much to post about, but no time to post it!  I would do a series of posts, but I’m always afraid someone is going to miss something.  I know… that would be tragic!  Haha.  Anyway, if you have about 30 min, enjoy.  Winking smile

First here are some funny pictures of Cole with his buddy Will.  It has been a long time coming, but they are starting to play much nicer together.  Haha.  They love each other and are always so excited to see each other until they have to start sharing.  Sound familiar to any 2 year old parents out there?  Anyway, they are both little hams and did a great job sharing on this particular playdate.  Hope it continues!

Cole also has a tendency to want to play with WHATEVER baby toy I pull out for Jordan.  Luckily she isn’t old enough to protest at this point and actually enjoys watching him do things.  Notice her cute little smile…

I don’t know about all of you, but there are days where I feel like a crummy momma. These are days where Jordan ends up having to be in her swing most of the day, Cole seems to be begging for attention by doing the exact opposite of everything I ask, and I am praying for naptime/bedtime.  I had one of those days not long ago.  Luckily God helped me out and gave me a really great day to follow.  Don’t you love how He does that?  Anyway, here are pictures from our very happy day. (Most of these were taken with my- not smart phone- cell phone so they may not be the best quality.)

Mid-morning snack of chocolate pudding while lying in the kitchen floor.  He loved it so that’s all that mattered.

We walked down the street to a small playground and stayed almost 2 hours.  It’s the perfect size for Cole because he can do it all.  He was making up games for us which was so impressive to me!  He is also getting to be a bossy little booger and knows exactly how he wants everything done…  I’ll focus on the impressed part though.  Winking smile

Sweet Jordan was enjoying being outside too!

All by himself!

Photo531

Here we were singing songs in the fort.  He was coming up with lots of different ones all on his own.

This is just a recording of him singing.  I love this little boy so much!

After the playground we tried his 4 wheeler again… success!

Photo536

So much fun was had that he passed out on the couch before I could finish making his lunch!

So that brings us to 4th of July.  We spent the weekend with my family at our cabin on Pickwick Lake.  We had so much fun!  We had time to hang out with family, relax, play with Cole, cuddle with Jordan, and actually spend time just me and Murray too!  There were a lot of us there, and we really enjoyed getting to spend time with family we don’t see often enough!  Cole LOVED the lake.  He wasn’t scared of the water, boat, wave runners, etc. at all!  And he would have played in the sand all day.  Good news for us since we are headed to the beach with Murray’s family next week.

Oh and did I mention that we went fishing and look what I caught!

P1160698

Cole did a little fishing himself…

My brother has been rescuing baby animals as long as I can remember.  He found this little duckling in our yard and saved it from our neighborhood cats the other day.  Cole loved it!

Swimming!!!  Cole was basically swimming all by himself by the time we left!
