So much to say... so little time!

Seems like lately I have had a lot that I have wanted to blog about, but, with all of it actually going on, I have had trouble finding the time to blog about it. =) Now that I am sitting down to do it, I know I won't remember everything, but I'll do my best!

First off, Murray and I ran a 5K this morning! I really like to run, and we'll just say that Murray really likes me. Haha! He is such a good sport, and I really appreciate him trying to enjoy things that I enjoy. I do think that he is glad that he has started running, but I don't know that he is quite ready to say that he really likes to run! He did so good today though. He has only been running about a month to train for this, and he was able to drop his normal time down by more than a minute! It really was a fun race because it was downtown by the river and ended up at Louisville Slugger Field. There were over 8000 people running! Crazy!!! Here is a picture of us before our race.


Second, of course, has to do with stuff Cole is learning to do. Here are some videos that I haven't had time to load yet.
This is his new favorite thing to do... crawl under things. The table, chairs, your legs, etc.

Cole is starting to jabber a lot. It is so funny to me because he is SO serious about what he is telling us. You'll see...

Cole loves to play with Duke, and we are so lucky that Duke is an easy-going, good-natured dog. Here is their classic tug-of-war game.

Murray taught Cole how to turn out the lights. He loves it. Anytime he sees a light switch now, this is what he wants to do!


This is Cole's new favorite position. He does it ALL the time! I'm not really sure what he is trying to accomplish. Murray calls this Cole's "downward dog" yoga pose, but I think that he has been watching mommy do her push-ups on The Biggest Loser's Last Chance Workout. (I promise I don't stick my bottom up in the air like that though!) =)


I just had to add this one because I LOVE this towel. I just think that it is too cute, and there is nothing better than a happy, fresh and clean baby!


As you can see, life is busy and ever-changing at our house. I am blessed beyond measure to have such a sweet little boy and a husband who makes it possible for me to witness all of this by staying home. Hope you all have a great weekend with weather as nice as we are having here in Louisville!!!

One of those days...

Everyone knows what you mean when you say... It's just been one of those days. In other words, if it could go wrong, it did. Well so far, it's not even 10am yet, and I can already tell you... It's one of those days! Haha. Seriously, I am just laughing about it now because it really does no good to be frustrated, and I hope that it brings a little humor to your day too.

First off, Cole just woke up on the WRONG side of the bed. He was in a seriously stinky mood this morning. To add to that, I managed to accidentally snap the skin of his inner thigh into his onesie as I was trying to get him dressed and off that changing table as fast as possible since he was screaming his head off. He was seriously screaming after that! After calming him down from that, I set him in the bathroom floor with some of his bath toys so I could brush my teeth. I flipped my head over to quickly redo my ponytail to miss him taking a nosedive into the corner bathroom cabinet because he was trying to get to the scale. Screaming once again. (I really did feel awful about both of his injuries! I joke that he was screaming, but it hurt me too seeing him so sad.)

So next I put him in his highchair while I fixed our breakfasts. He wasn't thrilled about this, but 1- he was safe and 2- he got over it once he had some toys to play with. He actually ate really well, and I thought things were looking up... until I went to change his diaper. (I knew he needed a change because his "poop face" gave it away. Check back in a previous post for a picture of this face!) Well, he had managed to poop out of his diaper and all into his cute jeans I put him in this morning. Luckily it somehow missed the onesie so I was just gonna use a different pair of jeans... until he peed all over his onesie, me, and the changing table. UGH! So, I quickly began cleaning everything up only to end up sticking my hand in some poop that had managed to find its way out of the dirty diaper somehow. Can you see how this is one of those days?

Well, luckily Cole has gone down for a nap so I am hoping he finds the right side of the bed this time! Also, I came across a quote that cheered me up... "Measure not God's love and favor by your own feeling. The sun shines as clearly in the darkest day as it does in the brightest. The difference is not in the sun, but in some clouds." (Richard Sibbs) How great that even on some of our most "down in the dumps" days, we have a God that loves us more than we can imagine!

That's My Boy!!!

Just had to share something that made my heart really happy today. This morning, I put out a bunch of toys on the floor for Cole to play with. I just sat him in the middle of them all knowing he would crawl happily from one to the next. I couldn't believe it, but was so happy, when he passed by ALL the toys (even some of his new favorites) and crawled straight to his baskets of books! Guess this is at least one way he takes after his momma!

Mommy & Me Day!

My friend Liz had a great idea to organize a Mommy & Me Day at the church building for a few first-time moms to get together. It was a great time! Our kids loved playing with toys they weren't used to AND each other of course. And the mommies loved watching their babies play happily and getting to talk about the joys, stresses, basically life of a first-time mom. Here are some fun pictures from our morning!

And, of course, I can't post without bragging on my ever changing genius! ;) Here are videos of some new tricks.

He LOVES to squeal now... all the time. Not sure if this trick qualifies as something that takes a lot of brain power, but it's new and hilarious (if we aren't in church!).

He has also figured out how to "fake" laugh. The best is when he starts doing this because everyone else in the room is laughing. He just wants to be a part of things!

He has started waving by opening and closing his hand. Sometimes he waves to himself, and, when he gets really excited, he will wave his whole arm. I think it's so sweet when he does it with his hand.

Last but not least, in the car this morning, Cole started playing peek-a-boo with me all by himself. I usually have to pull the blanket up and down, but today he did it all by himself in the backseat. I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to get him doing it on video, but, when we were getting back in the carseat to come back home, he was a good sport and let me capture it. I was so excited that he could do it on his own and that I got to record it.

Current Events...

Sorry for the slacking in posting lately. We have had a fun month, but we have definitely been busy. We spent a weekend at a close friend's wedding in Nashville, and we also spent some time in Huntingdon celebrating Murray's birthday with his family. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera so I have nothing to show you. =( But of course, I do have some fun stuff from our time at home.

If you have been keeping up with our blog, you know that we didn't really celebrate Valentine's Day on the real day because Cole was sick and running a high fever. I have been waiting for a time to put Cole in his special outfit that his Mimi bought for him, and today was the day! Apparently Cole and I were not on the same page about the photo shoot, but we did the best we could. Haha. So for your viewing pleasure, here are the bloopers and the final product:

FINALLY a good one! I have never had to work so hard for a cute picture!

We have also had fun introducing Cole to new things. Here is his first experience with a Saltine cracker. He was so funny with it. Not too sure at first, but definitely a fan after a couple minutes! Restaurants just got a lot messier but easier!

Also we had to lower his crib mattress a few days ago because we found him hanging onto the rail of his crib on his knees when we got him up from a nap. Just a little bit scary! He had never even tried pulling up on anything before. Today, he pulled up on the couch all by himself though. How can he be so big?!?! He is also drinking out of a sippy cup like a little pro now. He prefers for me to hold it for him, but he can do it by himself- just not as steadily or for as long.

There have been a couple other things, but I better save something fun for his 8 month post in a couple weeks. Although, as quickly as he has been adding new skills lately, I will have a whole new list to share anyway.

On a funny note, I am training for a half-marathon in April so today I was going to run 6 miles. I wanted to run somewhere different than our neighborhood because I'm getting pretty bored of it so I decided to run to and through a nearby park. I had it all figured up on the map... unfortunately, my directionally-impaired self wound up way out of the way and lost. THANK GOODNESS I had taken my cell phone. (Only because Murray made me... I think he knew this was a strong possibility for me- haha.) Murray coached me back, and I made it home safe and sound. AND I did finish the 6 miles I had intended on running- just by way of a little different route than I had planned. =) Only me!

Poor Baby...

Poor little Cole has had a rough time lately. We had to take him back to the doctor yesterday because he had been running a fever of 102 since Sunday! Come to find out he never actually recovered from his last ear infection, and, on top of that, he has a virus. He has been feeling really badly so this morning I decided to let him do something fun to try to find his sweet smile that we have been missing. As you will see, it worked, but boy did I have a big mess to clean up afterward! Totally worth it to this momma though.

Since he has been sick since Sunday, we decided to postpone Valentine's Day. He has a really cute V-Day outfit that I can't wait to put him in, but he is definitely not feeling like the photo shoot I have planned yet. Haha. Murray and I are waiting for our date night until Cole is better too so hopefully he will start feeling good again soon for multiple reasons!

Happy Birthday Daddy! (& 7 months old!)

Happy Birthday Murray! This has been such a fun year full of so many crazy life changes, and I know it is only going to get better and better. It has been so wonderful to watch him become a doctor, a homeowner, a daddy, and so much more! I'm really not sure how he balances all the stuff he has going on, but I am super impressed by him! I love him so much and am lucky to get to celebrate today with him!

I'm sure that most of you know that Murray loves baseball so today we headed down to the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory. Such a cool place! We watched them making TONS of baseball bats and got to hold some of the bats that the pros use. Murray was in heaven!

And... Cole is 7 months old today!!! I think that he knew that this was an important day for him and for his Daddy because he started really crawling today. We were SO excited when he took off across the rug for a toy! Still getting the hang of it definitely, but he is on hands and knees and off his belly!

I'm coming to getcha Momma!


As far as other developments go... I have been posting a lot of things, but he still loves to look at books, cannot control his dancing urges whenever music is playing, laughs out loud when we laugh, kisses the baby in the mirror (so sweet!), occasionally waves hi or bye-bye (not sure if he understands this one yet though), is talking so much more, LOVES to find the tags on all his toys and stuff them in his mouth, is eating baby food great (green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, peaches, and cereal), and runs laps around his playtable. He is also developing quite an opinion about certain things... he likes his bath, is starting to really dislike diaper changes, becomes very unhappy if Mommy or Daddy leave the room, and loves to be outside (if the wind isn't blowing in his face). He is really cute with his little friends. I promise that he and Davis try to hug every time they see each other, and he is glued to Slade's every little move! I know there is so much more that has changed in the past month, but I'm having trouble thinking of things now... of course. ;) So I'll just give you another cute picture of my birthday boy with his little all-star!

SNOW!!!

FINALLY we had a snow day when Daddy could be home with us... at least for most of the day! And God definitely saved the best one for today! We probably have 6-7 inches of snow, and it is the really pretty kind that sticks to all the tree branches.

Murray had a couple surgeries this morning, but he got to come home afterward to play in the snow with us. He tried to buy Cole a sled on his way home, but they were all sold out (not hard to believe) so we made a makeshift sled of our own. I know it's kinda crazy, but I'm pretty proud of it! All the mittens Cole's size are also sold out. I'm not sure if they were actually all sold or not, but all the stores have out now are bathing suits! In February! Anyway, we also made makeshift gloves out of socks. Haha. Who says you have to have all the right stuff to have fun?!?!
