Murray’s office had their work party Friday night. Now, normally most people wouldn’t be all that excited about their spouse’s work party, but I was actually really excited. He works with a lot of fun people, and last year’s party was really fun. This year lived up to expectations, and we had a great time. We enjoyed fun company, good food, funny entertainment, and a serious game of Dirty Santa. Plus, I was also pretty happy to get dressed up in something besides my usual jeans and long-sleeve t-shirt. And Murray was pretty nice too look at all night too!
Every year Murray’s partner, Laura, always comes up with this seriously funny and impressive poem about the past year. In it she hits the year’s highlights and basically roasts everyone that works at the office, including herself. She also has a gag gift to go along with each person’s part of the poem too. It started off with her showing a high school video of one of the girl’s “Hello Dolly” performance.
You can tell by the smiles that everyone had a great time with it!
One part required Murray giving the “So you wanna be a redneck” quiz to the 3 northern transplants. Pretty funny!
For Murray’s roast, she joked about how what he had in his pocket for protection obviously wasn’t working since we are pregnant every year. Haha. You can see in the picture what his gag gift was…
She went all out on this gift… there are a couple of newlywed girls at the office, and she made sure they wouldn’t be requiring a maternity leave any time soon with Duck Dynasty footsie jammies, hair caps, and breath right strips. Murray even threw in his gag gift to help out with that effort. Haha.
I had about 6-7 gifts stolen from me during the Dirty Santa game. It became pretty funny for me to keep getting back up for another turn to choose. I can’t even remember all the things I had at some point but know I lost a necklace from Kay’s, movie tickets, homemade bread/jelly/cookies/salsa, 2 different candles, and I ended up with a Santa snuggie. It didn’t get stolen.
To spice it up, there were some really great gifts in the mix, but you didn’t know for sure if they were real or not. For example, a Kindle Fire and Ipad Air were unwrapped. The rules were you couldn’t open the box to see if that was really what was in there. At the end of the game, the Kindle Fire was real, but this was what was in the Ipad Air box. Quite the disappointment for Mrs. Jackie! Leia was excited though because she thought she was getting a picture of Laura’s dog, only to find a $100 bill behind the picture!
Murray and Laura both received really nice gifts from the staff too.
It’s really nice for me to spend time with all the people who help Murray out everyday. We feel very blessed to have them working alongside him and appreciate all their hard work! It was fun to have a night off to hang out and not need to do anything but have fun!
