Halloween

IMG_8010

The kids are such fun ages for holidays.  We had a blast decorating and making crafts for Halloween.

Most everything looked very kid-ish which is totally fine because that’s where we are right now, and I wouldn’t change it for anything.  That being said, I did really love the one grown-up fall decoration I did.

We got everyone ready for Trunk or Treat at our church, but unfortunately it was right at naptime and on a Sunday.  Sundays are rough anyway with little ones… especially with naps cut short!  Wolverine and a beautiful butterfly were happy to pose for a picture, but my dinosaur was not feeling it!

Once we started getting candy, he was in a much better mood!  Who says a sucker can’t cure all?!?!

It was fun seeing all our little buddies all dressed up too!

Nonny let Princess Kyndall try a popsicle… not sure if it was the temperature or the taste, but Kyndall was not impressed.

Ready to “cheese” it up now!

We also did Trunk or Treat at my parents’ church. A lot of the kid’s school friends were there, but somehow I only ended up with this picture.  Hayes and Kyndall were big helpers! ;)

The day of Cole and Jordan’s Halloween parties, I went all out on festive lunches!  Plus Jordan took orange cups to her party, and Cole took ghost juice boxes to his.

This has nothing to do with her Halloween party, but I really was impressed by her mouse she drew in art!

Cole’s party table was so festive!

This was such a cute but easy party game, and the kids were so into it!  I love the look on all his classmates’ faces when he got it!  So sweet!

Entertainment during Cole’s party.  So thankful my mom was there to help!

On the actual day of Halloween, we started it off right with special donuts from Gibson’s.

And we spent the rainy afternoon designing and carving pumpkins!

It was pretty interesting watching their personalities show while cleaning out their pumpkins.  I will say that Cole has come a LONG way since last year.  He wouldn’t even almost do it then, and this year, with a good bit of convincing, he actually got a good bit out.  Jordan on the other hand LOVED it!  She is as girly as they come, yet she can’t resist a chance to get messy!  Hayes wasn’t bothered by it.  He just seemed to think we were crazy.  Haha.

Murray’s favorite part of the pumpkin process… making roasted pumpkin seeds!

Hayes got over the pumpkin carving and decided playing in the rain was way more fun!

Finished products!

That night we told the kids that we were going to help others have a Happy Halloween since we had already had a couple chances to get candy.  I didn’t know if they would go for it, but we didn’t hear one complaint!  They LOVED handing out candy.  It made me proud hearing them compliment other kids on their costumes and seeing them be so generous.  We even had to dip into their own candy we had so many trick or treaters.  Thankful it worked out that way because it could have easily gone the other! :)

Happy Halloween!  (a month late!)
